No-exam life insurance

Which applicants skip the medical exam, how the process works, and what happens if you're not eligible for expedited approval.

Many carriers use accelerated underwriting for applicants who fit their criteria: they review your application, check prescription records and your driving history, and make a decision without a physical exam. Decisions sometimes arrive the next day. Every rate shown here notes whether that carrier requires an exam, might require one, or skips it entirely.

What it changes

No-exam paths still include full review of your application. If you provide wrong information and get approved, the insurance can be challenged in the first two years. If the carrier finds something concerning in their records, they might ask for an exam anyway, and you can choose whether to proceed.

Who tends to qualify

Generally, people under age 60 requesting coverage within the carrier's accelerated window, without serious health conditions and no tobacco use in the past year, qualify. If you've had recent bloodwork from your doctor, some companies take those results instead of ordering a new exam.

If needed, the exam is usually a 20- to 30-minute appointment with a nurse at your home or workplace in the Huntington Park area, at no cost. A positive exam result can even improve your rate, so it is not necessarily a problem.
